How do I edit documents in the Canvas Editor?

The Canvas Editor is where you review, refine, and finalize your documents. Navigate here from the sidebar (Ctrl+3) or directly after processing a transcript. Edit directly in either pane, use the AI refinement chat for quick changes, and auto-save keeps your work safe.

Dual-Pane Layout

The editor shows two panes:

  • Summary pane: Your meeting summary
  • Email pane: The client follow-up email

You can edit directly in either pane. Click on any text to start typing.

Toolbar

The toolbar at the top provides:

ButtonActionShortcut
SaveSave current documentCtrl+S
UndoUndo last changeCtrl+Z
RedoRedo undone changeCtrl+Y
ChatOpen AI Refinement Chat
ExportExport to Word or OutlookCtrl+E

Auto-Save

Your work is automatically saved every 2 seconds as you type. You'll see a brief "Saved" indicator when auto-save completes. You can also save manually with Ctrl+S at any time.

AI Refinement Chat

The AI Refinement Chat lets you request changes to your documents through a conversational interface.

How to use it

  1. Click the Chat icon in the toolbar to open the chat drawer
  2. Type your request in plain language, for example:
    • "Make the summary shorter"
    • "Add action items to the email"
    • "Use a more formal tone"
    • "Remove the section about portfolio performance"
  3. The AI will suggest changes, shown as a diff preview
  4. Review the before/after comparison
  5. Click Accept to apply the changes, or Reject to keep the original

Targeted refinements

Select specific text in either pane before typing your chat request. The AI will focus its changes on just the selected portion.

Multi-turn conversations

You can have back-and-forth conversations with the AI. It remembers the context of your previous requests within the same session.

Conflict warning

If you've manually edited text that the AI is also trying to change, you'll see a conflict warning modal asking you to choose which version to keep.
